ODBCHTTP Installation

  1. Run setupODBCHHTP.exe (PRO) or setupODBCHTTPhe (version Home Edition) to start the installation.

  2. Press the button “Install the Driver” to start the installation.

  3. Enter the directory where the driver will be installed. The proposed directory is best suited for then installation. Then press “Next”.

  4. Enter the key that was sent to you by email. If you do not have an internet connection you can not validate the driver installation. An error message will be shown if you are unable to connect to the server or if the key is invalid. Then press “Next”.

  5. Now the driver is installed. If you want to access a database on your server, you must install a script on your server that will allow you to communicate with the driver. You have 3 options:

    1. “Install” installs the script selected in the dropdown menu corresponding to your database and server environment using an integrated FTP client
    2. « Skip+Copy » allows you to install all available scripts in the directory containing the installer. You can install a script with another tool.
    3. « Skip » doesn’t  install any script. Use this option if you want to connect to database servers that are installed by someone else.


  6. If you have pressed “Install”, set the parameters for the FTP server of your website:

    URL: enter the address of your ftp host

    Port: enter the port used by the host. 21 is the most common value.

    User: enter your FTP username.

    Pass: enter your password.

    Remote Directory : If you leave this field empty the script will be installed in the root folder. If you want to install the script in a specific folder enter the folder name in this field. If the folder does not exist it will be created after your confirmation.

    Click “upload” to install the script on your server. In case of an error a message indicating the problem will be displayed and you return to this screen again.

  7. The pilot and the script being installed, you only have to create a data source to connect your applications to your database.

    If you entered the FTP parameters in the previous screen, the button “Create Data source” allows you to quickly create a data source from these parameters.

    Important Note: In some configurations of the server the FTP root folder is not the root foolder for HTTP. In this scenario you need to adjust the URL in the definition of the data source.

  8. To create other data sources you can click “ODBC Administrator”, or after installation, go to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Data Sources (ODBC).

  9. Connecting to servers using the https protocol requires the use of the OpenSSL libraries. More info on the installation of these libraries can be found here.

  10. If you want to uninstall the driver you just have to restart setupODBCHTTP.exe or setupODBCHTTPhe.exe. Click on “Remove” and confirm. You must delete manually the script installed on the server.
